Founded by Elizabeth Beer and Brian Janusiak, Various Projects Inc. is a multidisciplinary studio that has built a collaborative model for it's creative practice. Activities include object and product development and distribution, clothing and interior design, print design and publication, curatorial adventures and creating retail communities. Various Projects is interested in the beauty of the common and the every day.
The Birdwatching project started as a way to honor the under appreciated birds of our local community in NYC, particularly the Rock Dove aka Pigeon. Over time this evolved into an interest in "state birds” who by definition represent a region and a kind of biological vernacular, among them the Nene of Hawaii that was threatened with extinction. The hand-knit objects, which together constitute the Birdwatching project, are designed by Various Projects and made by a Bolivian knitting collective that was started to save local Jaguars.
