Jeweler Katrina LaPenne created this bracelet drawing inspiration from the bold forms found in ancient and medieval Torque jewelry, worn throughout Europe, from ancient Britain To Viking Age Scandinavia. The original version was made through a process true to that of her historical references. LaPenne first forged down a single hunk of silver into a taper with a hammer and anvil, twisting and heating the metal repeatedly to create the torqued form, and finally soldering the ends together and sanding and polishing the piece smooth. A mold was then made of each piece and they are now reproduced, cast in sterling silver, using the lost wax process. LaPenne hand finishes and polishes each piece in her studio.
