These blankets are new old stock (N.O.S) from the USSR and made of a heavy flannel material in a wide variety of check patterns. They are undated but likely from the mid-late 20th century.

Most curious is the strong resemblance of their geometric patterns to late 18th and early 19th century American "home spun" textiles, produced by women who were non-professional weavers for use in their homes. These blankets were made most commonly from a combination of wool and linen in a cream color yarn alternated with blue, red, or green. In 1825 the jacquard loom was brought to America and these textiles began to be produced with the same patterns and colors but by professional weavers for public consumption.
